The extraction and construction of the Genealogical Meme Chart constitute the core technological component and the knowledge-production foundation of the Human Memeplex Project (HMP). Just as the Human Genome Project unveiled the underlying code of life’s heredity through sequencing and mapping, the extraction and construction of the Chart under HMP aim to systematically identify, classify, encode, and correlate the complex and widely dispersed cultural elements across the world’s civilizations, ultimately producing a digital atlas of global cultural genes that enables cross‑temporal comparison, deconstruction of elements, and creative transformation.

As an innovative action for the global networking of the Chair, the International Workstation is dedicated to establishing physical platforms for academic collaboration and cultural exchange in diverse regions around the world. Focusing on core functions such as high-level research exchange, forward-looking policy recommendations, and community empowerment, the Workstation actively employs cutting-edge technologies including digitalization and artificial intelligence to promote the sustainable preservation and creative development of cultural heritage.

“文艺赋美乡村全球探寻计划”由新华网、北京大学文化产业研究院与联合国教科文组织乡村创意与可持续发展教席共同发起，于2025年12月在海南博鳌正式启动。该计划旨在全球化与城乡变迁的时代背景下，以文艺方法激活乡村文化生命力，构建贯通中国乡村经验与世界乡村智慧的国际合作机制。

Co-launched by Xinhuanet, the Institute for Cultural Innovation at Peking University, and the UNESCO Chair on Creativity and Sustainable Development in Rural Areas, the Global Exploration Initiative of “Enriching Villages through Arts and Culture” was officially inaugurated in December 2025. Against the backdrop of globalization and urban-rural transformation, the Initiative seeks to revitalize rural cultural vitality through artistic and cultural approaches, and to establish an international cooperative mechanism that bridges Chinese rural experience with global rural wisdom.

乡土绘画是中国农耕文明、海洋文化与各民族原生态审美的活态结晶，深深镌刻着中华民族最原生态的审美追求与厚重的乡愁记忆。该数据库以数字档案为基石，系统开展乡土绘画作品的数字化采集、分类归档与永久保存。通过口述史采编记录艺术家与传承人的创作故事与技艺传承；借助新媒体传播推动乡土艺术走向更广阔的大众视野。

Vernacular painting is a living embodiment of China’s agrarian civilization, maritime culture, and the pristine aesthetics of its diverse ethnic groups, deeply inscribed with the most primordial aesthetic aspirations and profound nostalgic memories of the Chinese nation. Built upon digital archiving, this database systematically undertakes the digitization, classification, archiving, and permanent preservation of vernacular painting works. Through oral history fieldwork, it documents the creative narratives and craftsmanship inheritance of artists and tradition-bearers; via new media dissemination, it brings vernacular art to a broader public audience.
